Description

My experimetnal camera was created with the intentin of expressing the state I find myself in during quarantine. Considering this is the most I have ever been in front of a camera it seemed fitting to design my experimental camera around that experience. Mainly by using the pixel array I attempted to create a visualization of how I working during quarantine feels. I feel like I used to enjoy being on my computer and at my desk but because quarantine has restricited me to it for so long it does not feel the same. I wanted to reflect problems like lack of focus and the ample amount of distractions and burnout that seems to be a product of a unbalanced workspace. I used the pixel array to create a pixelated or low resolution effect to represent the lack of clarity I feel like I have experenced, I originally had the pixels in this array grow larger as time went on. This was trying to show that the more time spent without balance, the worse or more incomprehensible the problems would get. I eventually took this out and replaced it with something a little more light hearted.

Instead of that idea I shifted my appraoch, I still wanted to cover my experience working in quarantine and I still wanted to address problems related to efficiency or attention. I chose to change the alpha value of the pixel arrray, so that when there is movement in the frame of the camera the image has this elongated effect. I went with this because I think it is good way to visualize distraction or the loss of focus by the subject of the camera. My final thoughts on this camera paint it as more of a workspace tool, one that I can use to monitor me and keep me on task.
