Description

For this project, we were introduced to JSON data and teh setTimeout() and setInterval() animation methods in p5js. We were tasked with creating a 'data-self portrait' by recording any kind of data we wanted over the course of a week into a CSV or JSON file. We then had to animate it using the methods mentioned before.

The concept of a 'Data-self Portrait' has become even more relevant in the reecent years as we live more and more of our lives online. I think this project is meant to make us reflect on how our data represents us, and how our habits shape us as people. I think data is extremely personal, and this project could have been a way of visualizing insecurities, routines, habits, or interests. I chose to do mine on the time I spent awake versus the time I spent asleep. I wanted to visualize the amount of time I spend present and awake, time I spend practicing my habits and routines. The amount of time I spent asleep refelcts on my habits of staying up late and getting very little sleep, it could also be correctly inffered that I am addicited to caffine and will drink coffee late into the night. I think that you could probably project a few more things about me based off of that information, like the amount of energy I have during the day or how it could affect my personality or productivity. This is just proving the point that even though data can seem flat or impersonal it can actually be analyzed to be quite the opposite.
